The Raiders dropped a hard fought GPAC Dual Thursday evening to Concordia University 16-21. The loss coupled with a Briar Cliff University win against Morningside College Thursday 20-15 ends the Raider's hopes of hoisting a conference championship for the first time in program history.

The night started off at the 157 weight class and saw the early lead go to the Bulldogs after a major decision for Jared Woods over Dan Zeleny. Andrew Null got the Raiders back on track with a tech fall getting the score to 5-4 in favor of NWC. Shuler's anticipated battled with Walker Fisher did not happen as Concordia put Deandre Chery up instead. Shuller went on to beat Chery 3-0 to give the Raiders an 8-4 lead. 

The momentum would swing heavily at the 184 pound weight class with D'rell Gist battling Josh Nelson in a tough match which saw Nelson get the best of Gist with a takedown with 1 second left in the 3rd. Though the 5-4 decision did not put the Raiders behind, it was a big blow to the confidence the Raiders had on the night.

Nicholas Null would take care of Darrin Miller with a 16-0 tech fall to push the lead back to 6 points for the Red Raiders but Isaac Ruiz's loss at the 285 pound class in the final period was the finishing blow to Northwestern. Sam Klarenbeek and Eli Dahl would both lose by major decisions and Mills would lose by decision to put the Raiders to far behind to make a comeback. Though Dante Preciado defeated Chris Kimball to end the night, the Raiders would lose by a total of 16-21.

"That was hearbreaking," commented head coach Rik Dahl. "We were so close in so many matches and really wrestled well in the night. Just a hard way to see a dual go. I feel for the guys but I am proud of the work that they have put into everything."

The Raiders will round out their GPAC schdule Friday night at home against Jamestown University, a newcomer to the GPAC. The Jimmies are 1-5 overall and in the GPAC this year. The whistle will blow at 7pm for the first match.
