Pennel hit .302 with 13 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases while earning team game MVP honors at the Texas Fastpitch Nationals in 2016. Also a standout in both volleyball and basketball where she earned all-tournament honors, Pennel is an honor roll student and academic all-conference selection. She plans to major in Psychology and English at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Stephen and Shelly.

"Saige is a very experienced club softball player who has the ability to play a number of different positions," said Nachtigall. "She is a high energy player who has a great love for the game.  Saige's self-discipline, passion and love for her teammates will make her a great addition to our 2017-18 class. We are excited that Saige has decided to be a part of our program."
