Northwestern dropped a pair of one-run games (2-1, 3-2) to Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC doubleheader played tonight in Orange City, Iowa. The Red Raiders are now 4-8 in conference play, 13-18 overall.

Isaac Horigan and DWU starter Dominique Boerger were locked in a pitcher's dual in game one. Horigan (5-3) lost despite giving up four hits and one earned run while striking out a season-high nine. The senior retired the final 13 Tigers' hitters.
Boerger (4-1) earned his fourth win of the season, giving up six hits and one run in 5.1 innings. William Lutjens picked up his GPAC-leading sixth save despite walking the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
DWU scored an unearned run in the second when Zach Uttecht, who led off with a single, crossed home on a passed ball. Uttecht scored the Tigers' second run in the fourth inning when he doubled, advanced to third on a fly-ball to right and came in after a balk.
Northwestern plated its only run on a lead-off home run by Austin Zylstra in the fifth inning, his third of the season. The Red Raiders left nine runners on base.
DWU scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly with one out in the seventh inning to win game two and complete the sweep.
Tied at two, Tramane Moore led off the seventh with a walk against Northwestern relief pitcher, Chase Davis (0-1). Landon Neugebauer put down a sacrifice bunt and then a passed ball advanced Moore to third. He then scored on a long flyout by Tyler Waddle.
Patrick Whetham (3-2) went the distance on the mound, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out seven. Whetham gave up three hits, all singles, in the first inning and a solo home run to Michael Callahan in the fifth inning.
Alec Rickabaugh allowed four hits and one run over the first five innings. The freshman walked three and struck out two. Zach Rosson pitched the sixth inning, giving up two hits and one run.
Casey Guthmiller went 1-for-3 and scored a run and both Dustin Gaither and Reed Smith also had a hit.
