Red Raiders Drop Non-Conference Games To Bellevue

Northwestern College dropped a pair of home games tonight at the hands of Bellevue University, 4-0 in game one and 8-0 in the nightcap. The Red Raiders fall to 14-13 on the season.

Hits were hard to come by against Bruins' pitchers, Lexi LeCalsey and Kelli Fisher, who gave up a combined five hits in earning back-to-back shutouts. LeCalsey (6-3) gave up three hits in game one, a double by Madison Beaver and singles to Jessica Rayela and Katie Elliott.

Kayla Tindall (8-7) pitched well despite the loss as the junior fell to 8-7 on the season. The junior allowed five hits, four runs and struck out seven.

A one-run game heading into the seventh, Bellevue put the game away with three runs in their last at-bat. Hannah Carter had an RBI single and Maddie Siedlik smacked a two-run home run.

Game two belonged to the Bruins as well behind the effort of Fisher, who improved her record to 15-3 on the year. She limited Northwestern to two hits, singles by Bri Petrauskas and Jensen Boger, and struck out eight.

Morgan Means (6-6) took the loss, giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs in the full seven innings.

Carter, Kaitlyn Kinman, Erin Sharpe and Sayde Woten all had two hits for the Bruins.

Northwestern returns to conference play tomorrow, April 1, against College of Saint Mary.
