Red Raiders Split With McPherson

Northwestern College scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning to defeat McPherson 4-3 in game one of a doubleheader played today in McPherson, Kan. The Red Raiders dropped game two 4-1 for the split. 

The Red Raiders are 4-4 on the season and McPherson moves to 2-5. 

Tied at 3 in the sixth, pinch runner Payton Goettsch scored the winning run off a Bulldogs' throwing error on a ball hit by Katie Elliott

Kayla Tindall (3-1) picked up her third win of the season, giving up six hits and three runs in seven full innings. The junior walked one and struck out six. 

Elliott paced Northwestern with two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Amanda Everhart added a two-run single in the Red Raiders' three-run second inning. Mons FigueroaJessica Sandbulte and Renee Choquette also had hits for NWC. 

Northwestern was limited to just four hits by McPherson starting pitcher Christie Betker in its 4-1 game two loss. Jesica Rayela had a season-high three hits with a double and run scored to highlight the Red Raider offense. Figueroa tallied the other hit for NWC. 

Morgan Means (1-3) gave up seven hits and four runs in six innings, striking out two. McPherson scored two runs in both the third and fifth innings.
