Red Raiders To Play Doane In Top 25 Match-Up

Game Time...15th-ranked Northwestern takes on Doane in a tough GPAC road match-up between ranked teams this weekend in Crete, Neb. Kickoff at Simon Field  on Saturday, Oct. 21 is scheduled for 1pm. Northwestern stands in second place in the conference standings with a 4-1 record, 6-1 overall. No.19 Doane is 2-2 in GPAC play, 4-2 overall.

All-Time...Northwestern holds a slight edge in the all-time series, 17-15-2, against Doane, dating back to the first match-up in 1982.  The Red Raiders are 6-4 over the last 10 games against Doane but has dropped two straight and three of the last four games.

Last Year vs Doane...Doane scored 17 unanswered points in the second half to come back and defeat Northwestern 24-12 in a match-up played Nov.5 in Orange City, Iowa. The Red Raiders scored a pair of first half touchdowns on passes from Jonathan Kodama to Levi TeBrink (22-yards, 20 yards), the final one with 1:33 left in the first half, to take a 12-7 lead into halftime. The Tigers, however, came back with an early score in the third quarter on a 7-yard pass from Jack Shadley to Ben Berreckman to take the lead for good, 14-12. Doane scored again in the third off a 32-yard interception return by Seth Majerus and capped the scoring after a 21-yard field goal by Andres Burgoin at the nine-minute mark of the fourth. 

Northwestern had the advantage in total yards (403-308) but committed four turnovers compared to one by Doane. Kodama threw for 356 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted twice and sacked five times. Jacob Kalogonis rushed for 70 yards on 20 carries and TeBrink caught seven passes for 128 yards and two scores. Both Nick Acoba and Josh Treybal led the Raider D with 6.5 tackles. 

Shadley completed 11-of-21 passes for 91 yards and a score while All-American Nate Meier rushed 31 times for 168 yards and a touchdown. Frank Crawford was in on six tackles and a sack while Cole Wiseman totaled five tackles.
