Northwestern College was outscored 17-0 in the second half as the Red Raiders lost to No. 8 Doane 24-12 in the final home game of the season played this afternoon on Korver Field at DeValois Stadium.

The loss drops the Red Raiders overall record to 4-5 on the year, 4-3 in the GPAC. Doane improves to 6-1 in conference play, 8-1 overall.
Jonathan Kodama connected with Levi TeBrink for their second touchdown of the game to put Northwestern in front 12-7 with 1:30 left in the first half. Following a Doane punt, Northwestern's offense came back on the field and drove all the way to the Tigers's 11-yard line but failed to score before time ran out.
Northwestern was forced to punt after failing to get a first down on its first possession of the second half and the Doane offense capitalized, marching 53 yards on six plays that ended with a Jack Shadley seven-yard touchdown pass to Ben Berreckman for the go-ahead score. The Tigers' defense came up with the next big play when Seth Majerus intercepted a Kodama pass and returned it 32-yards for a touchdown on the Red Raiders next offensive series for a 21-12 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Doane finished of the game's scoring with a 21-yard field goal by Andres Burgoin at the nine-minute mark of the fourth quarter. Northwestern drove into Doane territory twice during the final 10 minutes but was unable to put points on the board.
Northwestern outgained the Tigers (403-208) and totaled more first downs (20-17) but committed two turnovers to Doane's one. Kodama completed 26-of-48 passes for 356 yards and two touchdowns along with a pair of interceptions. TeBrink posted a big day receiving with seven catches for a career-high 128 yards and two touchdowns. Jared Nelson caught a career-high six passes for 97 yards.
Jacob Kalogonis led the ground game with 20 carries for 70 yards, averaging 3.5 yards per carry.
Northwestern opened the game's scoring at the 7:21 mark when Kodama connected with TeBrink for a 22-yard score but the extra-point was blocked as the Red Raiders went ahead 6-0. Doane went ahead early in the second quarter when Nate Meier punched one in from two-yards, finishing a seven-play, 47-yard drive.
Meier was the catalyst for the Doane offense, rushing 31 times for 168 yards and a touchdown, the most yards against the Raider D this season. Shadley completed just 11-of-22 passes for 91 yards and a score.
Josh Treybal and Nick Acoba led the Raider D with 6.5 tackles and fellow senior Sam Van Ginkel totaled five stops and registered two sacks. Blake Eichmann nabbed an interception to go with 2.5 tackles.
Northwestern will close the season next weekend with a road game against #4 Morningside.
