Red Raiders Push Win Streak To Four With Sweep Over Jamestown

Northwestern College pushed its win streak to a season-best four games with a crucial sweep over the University of Jamestown, 3-2 and 3-1, in conference action played today at Trapper Field in North Dakota.

The Red Raiders move to two games over .500 in the GPAC at 8-6, 15-18 overall. The Jimmies are now 9-7 in conference play, 25-13 overall.

Emma Schnell won her third straight start and improved to 9-11 this season with a game one win. The sophomore allowed 12 hits and two earned runs in 6.1 innings while striking out one. Sydnee Isom recorded the final two outs to pick up her first collegiate save.

Trailing 2-1, Northwestern tied the game with an unearned run in the fifth. Bri Giordano led off with a single, advanced to second after a successful sacrifice bunt by Hailey Louw and scored on a ball hit by Madison Beaver that was misplayed by Jamestown.

Head Coach Shane Bouman's squad took the lead in the sixth when Emily Bosch drew a one-out walk, stole second and came around to score on an RBI single from Amber Schubert

Northwestern was limited to four hits, two by Schubert, who also drove in two runs. Jennifer Boeve added one hit in two at-bats and scored a run.

Kat Miska (12-5) lost for just the fifth time this season, giving up four hits in the complete-game. She struck out nine and walked two. Mikayla Frost went 3-for-4 and drove in one; both Meghan Rampage and Miriah Yoder had two hits. 11 of the 12 hits by the Jimmies were singles.

Scoring and hits were at a premium in the Red Raiders' 3-1, game two win. The teams combined for 10 hits, nine singles and one double, in the nightcap. Isom (3-2) earned the win in relief, giving up five hits and one run in 4.1 innings. Schnell earned her first save of the season, getting the final two outs, and Samantha Ubben began with two scoreless innings.

Beaver led the Red Raiders at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run. Bosch and Devin Dreesen had the other hits for Bouman's club.

Northwestern went ahead 2-0 in the second when Dreesen came across on a wild pitch and Emily Strasser recorded an RBI groundout. The Red Raiders added an insurance run in the third when Beaver scored after a groundout by Boeve.

Katie Merchant (11-7) pitched a complete game in the loss, giving up four hits and one earned run. Six diffferent Jamestown players had one hit each.
