Student-athletes at Northwestern enjoy some of the finest athletic facilities in the region.
Juffer Athletic FieldhouseThe Juffer Athletic Fieldhouse provides more than 33,000 square feet of indoor practice and training space for Red Raider student-athletes. Located just west of the Rowenhorst Student Center and connected to the RSC Mini-Gym, the new building includes: a weight room for athletes, an athletic conditioning space, a golf putting green, golf hitting nets, batting and pitching cages for baseball and softball and a multipurpose area for team practices.
Bultman Center for Health Physical Education and Intercollegiate athletics The Bultman Center for Health, Physical Education and Intercollegiate Athletics houses the athletics, physical education and health services departments of the college. Built in 1995, it features a wood-floored gymnasium for basketball and volleyball that seats 2,200. Also contained in the facility are a wrestling room, locker rooms, athletic training rooms, a laundry/equipment room, classrooms, and a cheer/dance/aerobics room.
DeWitt Physical Fitness CenterAdditional practice space is available in the DeWitt Physical Fitness Center, home to Northwestern’s popular intramural sports program. Raider athletes utilize the one-tenth-mile, four-lane indoor track for training. In addition to the track, the DeWitt Center includes four handball/racquetball courts; three basketball and four volleyball courts; two indoor tennis courts; and two badminton/pickleball courts.
|Korver Field Football games take place on Korver Field, which in 2004 was given a new FieldTurf artificial playing surface. Used by 18 NFL teams and a number of NCAA Division I schools, FieldTurf has been shown to significantly decrease injuries. Two full-sized practice football fields are also available to Raider athletes.|
|De Valois Stadium Korver Field is housed in De Valois Stadium, which seats 3,100. Along with the field, the De Valois Stadium complex includes a football/track locker room and an eight-lane polyurethane track completed in 2003. The track is steeple-chase ready; field event venues added adjacent to the track include a 100-by-100-foot polyurethane high jump area. Northwestern has hosted the outdoor GPAC conference track meet.|
|Baseball/Softball Diamonds Northwestern’s baseball and softball teams compete on the diamonds North of MOC-Floyd Valley High School. The lighted facilities will both see significant upgrades in the fall of 2015. Upgrades will include new backstops with tension netting and press boxes for both facilities. The baseball diamond will feature 33,000 sq. ft. of FieldTurf on the infield. Read more HERE.|
|Landsmeer Golf ClubRaider golfers practice and play at Landsmeer Golf Club, an 18-hole public course in Orange City. Opened in 1995, Landsmeer includes a driving range and putting green. Rolling hills provide golfers with an opportunity to test their skill, while prairie grasses and wildflowers enhance the aesthetic dimension of the course.|
|Soccer Field Complex Raider soccer teams compete and practice on fields renovated in 2011 through a cooperative project funded by Northwestern, the city of Orange City, and the public schools. Improvements included a new scoreboard, lighting, fencing and press box. Crews also installed a new drainage system, added irrigation to the practice fields, and leveled and reseeded both the competition and practice fields. Korver Field, with its artificial turf, is available for games during inclement weather.|
|Paul Bartlett Wrestling Room The Red Raider wrestling team practices in the former Korver Weight Room, which has been repurposed solely for wrestling. The room features 4200 square feet of space including; new flooring and wall mats, timing clocks, cabinetry, a cardio workout area, a dumbbell lifting area, monkey bars, a full competition sized circle, eight practice circles, and a 65 inch TV for film review. The location of the room also provides easy access to the DeWitt Physical Fitness Center and Juffer Fieldhouse/Korver Athletic Performance Center.|
