Northwestern College moved up three spots in this week's edition of the NAIA Volleyball coaches' poll released earlier today.
Ranked 14th on Sept. 5, Northwestern climbed three spots to 11th in the Sept. 19 edition of the coaches' poll, just five points shy of the top 10. The Red Raiders totaled 410 points and are behind No.10 Missouri Baptist with 415 total points. Northwestern is one of six teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) in the top 25, joining Hastings (1), Dordt (6), Midland (9), Doane (15) and Morningside (24).
Hastings continues to hold down the top spot as the defending national champions earned 17 of the 21 first place votes and totaled 588 points. Viterbo (Wis.) is second with 571pts and received the other four first place votes. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Park (Mo.) and Westmont (Calif.) round out the top five.
Northwestern (15-1) will put its 12-match win streak on the line tonight against Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, S.D. First serve of the GPAC match-up is scheduled for 7:30pm.
