Northwestern College posts a top five ranking in the final regular season edition of the NAIA Volleyball coaches' poll released by the national office earlier today.
The Red Raiders dropped one spot to fifth in the Nov.13 coaches' poll, the highest final regular season ranking since the 2013 season. Northwestern is 28-4 on the year, totaling 474 votes in the poll, as they head to the NAIA National Championship on Nov. 28 in Sioux City, Iowa. They are one of five teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) in the top 25; Hastings (3), Dordt (4), Midland (11) and Doane (24). A sixth GPAC team, Morningside, received votes.
The top three teams remain unchanged from the last edition (Oct.31) with Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) owning the top spot for the third straight poll, earning 16 of the possible 20 first place votes. Viterbo holds the second spot and received the last remaining first place votes. Then comes the three GPAC teams, Hastings, Dordt and Northwestern, as they round out the top five.
The NAIA will announce the pool play assignments for the National Championship on Monday, Nov. 20.
