Raiders Take Down Faulkner with Strong Second Half

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – In a neutral site matchup on Friday, Northwestern toppled Faulkner (Ala.) with an 82-69 victory. The Raiders surged ahead with a commanding 17-point lead midway through the second half, securing their eighth win on the year.

The game began with both sides exchanging leads. Northwestern faced an early six-point deficit, but quickly recalibrated, leveraging defensive stops and timely scoring to gain the upper hand. Kaleb Booth's back-to-back three-pointers and Jesse Van Kalsbeek's dominance in the paint shifted the momentum in favor of the Raiders.

Northwestern kept up the offensive pressure, shooting a consistent 48.3% in the first half. Brennan Reid's late layup and Isaac Cordes' three-pointer in the final seconds of the frame bolstered the lead, heading into the break with Northwestern up 36-30.

The second half saw Northwestern expanding its advantage, fueled by Manny Hammonds' three-pointer at 19:10 to make it 39-32. Reid continued the push with a layup at 18:25, assisted by Booth, keeping Faulkner at bay. Defensively, Langsy's steal and layup at 7:33 widened the lead to 17 points, marking the Raiders' largest margin.

As the game wore on, Van Kalsbeek remained a force in the paint, capping his night with a one-handed slam at 1:38. Despite Faulkner's attempts to close the gap, Northwestern's lead held firm in the 82-69 victory.
