Karen Hutson scored a game-high 21 points in leading #8 Northwestern to a 62-51 road win over Mount Marty Wednesday night in Yankton, S.D. The Red Raiders improve to 2-2 in the GPAC, 6-3 overall, while Mount Marty falls to 1-2 in the GPAC, 3-4 overall.

Hutson went 8-for-15 from the field and finished one shy of matching her career high set earlier this year. Both Alli Dunkelberger and Mackenzie Small added 11 points each for the Red Raiders.

Northwestern used a pair of 8-0 runs to open up a 35-26 halftime lead. Mount Marty outscored the Red Raiders 14-2 to start the second half and pulled ahead 40-37 after a three-pointer by Taylor Forsch with 13:44 left to play. A jumper by Kendra De Jong at the 10-minute mark put NWC down one (42-41) and then a three-point play by Small, followed by a three-pointer by Mallory Cunard, put the Red Raiders up for good, 47-42, with eight minutes left. A basket by Hutson gave NWC a 10-point lead (55-45) and the Red Raiders held Mount Marty  without a field goal for over four minutes down the stretch to preserve the win.

The Red Raiders shot 42% from the field and 33% (2-for-6) from beyond the arc. Northwestern used a 48-31 advantage on the boards, pulling down 11 offensive rebounds, led by De Jong with 11.

Northwestern will host Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2:00pm.
