Kendra De Jong registered her third double-double of the season in leading Northwestern to a 63-57 win over Mount Marty in GPAC women's basketball Wednesday night. Northwestern improves to 2-2 in the GPAC, 5-4 overall while Mount Marty drops to 1-2 in conference play, 6-5 overall.

De Jong scored a game-high 23 points, two shy of her season high, and pulled down 13 rebounds. The junior made 11-of-18 field goal attempts and scored 15 in the second half. Kami Kuhlmann scored 18 points, making three from beyond the arc, and dished out six assists. Samantha Kleinsasser added 14 points, 10 scored in the second half, making 7-of-9 field goal attempts.

Northwestern held a three-point lead (27-24) after a low-scoring first half in which both teams' defenses controlled play. The Raiders shot 32% compared to 29% for the Lancers in the opening 20 minutes.

The Raiders scored the first eight points of the second half to push the lead to 11 (35-24) but Mount Marty answered back with a 14-4 run and trailed by just one (39-38) with 10 minutes left. Northwestern followed with a decisive 13-4 run over a four minute stretch to stretch the lead back to 10 (52-42) and went on to record the 63-57 win.

Northwestern shot 41% for the game went 4-for-11 from beyond the arc. The Raiders controlled the boards (44-33) and pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Mount Marty was led by Taylor Forsch with 14 points while Alexa Berg added 11 points and three assists.

Northwestern heads to Lincoln, Neb. on Saturday, Dec. 3, to play Nebraska Wesleyan at 2:00 pm.
