Becca Hurley registered a triple-double in leading top-ranked Northwestern to an 84-78 win over Mount Marty in GPAC women's basketball action played Tuesday night in the Bultman Center. The Raiders stay unbeaten on the season, improving to 2-0 in the GPAC, 7-0 overall while Mount Marty dropped its conference opener and falls to 5-3 overall.

Hurley scored a season high 27 points, 22 in the second half, and also led the Raiders with 11 rebounds and 10 assists to register her first career triple-double. The senior guard made 5-of-9 three-point attempts and also recorded four steals. Kendra De Jong matched Hurley with 27 points, making 12-of-16 field goal attempts. De Jong also pulled down five boards and had two assists. Kami Kuhlmann was also in double figures with 13 points while Samantha Kleinsasser added eight points off the bench.

Northwestern broke open a 10-10 tie with a 17-1 run in the first half, holding the Lancers without a field goal for nearly eight minutes, and led 27-11 with 4:51 left to play. Both teams picked up their offense during the final minutes of the half as the Raiders took a 36-25 lead into the locker room.

The Raiders led 55-40 but Mount Marty outscored the hosts 18-3 over a four-minute stretch to tie the game at 58 with eight minutes left. Northwestern scored the next eight points, however, and eventually pushed the lead back to double digits in the final minutes.

Coach Woudstra's squad shot 49%, 35% from beyond the arc (7/20). The Raiders forced 23 Lancer turnovers and dished out 21 assists as a team.

After shooting 39% in the first half, Mount Marty finished the game at 50% and 53% from the three-point line (10/19). Taylor Forsch led the Lancers with 23 points, making 6-of-7 three-pointers, including five in the second half. Jenny Miller scored 21 points and Kylie Gross chipped in 13.

Northwestern hosts the Pizza Ranch Classic this weekend as the Raiders will play Central (Iowa) and William Penn (Iowa).
