Track and Field Athletes Meet Qualifying Marks At SDSU

Northwestern College track and field athletes qualified for nationals in nine more events this weekend in the SDSU Indoor Classic held in Brookings, S.D.

Six individuals hit either the auto or provisional mark this weekend, led by junior Katie Landhuis, who established a new school record in the 800m with a time of 2:14. She finished seventh out of 79 athletes on Saturday but was first among NAIA athletes. Landhuis has the top 800m time in the GPAC and is third in the NAIA. Katie Bosch finished just behind Landhuis in ninth place with a time of 2:14, meeting the auto mark once again. Bosch has the second fastest time in the GPAC and fourth in the NAIA.

Aaron Lemon, Peter Hollinger and Tim Rose all met the automatic mark in their respective events. Lemon placed second in the 600m, just over a second in back of a USF runner, with a time of 1:20.27, second fastest in the GPAC and sixth in the NAIA.

Hollinger met the auto mark in the 800m with a time of 1:53.44, placing 13th out of 99 athletes but second among NAIA runners. Like Lemon, Hollinger has posted the second fastest time in the conference, sixth best in the NAIA.

Rose met the auto mark once again in the mile, crossing the finish line in 13th place with a GPAC-leading time of 4:16. Rose is ranked 10th in the NAIA. Tanner Goetsch met the provisional mark with a time of 4:19, third fastest in the GPAC to date, which put him in 21st place on Saturday.

Three relays met the auto mark this weekend; men's 4x400 and both the women's and men's distance medley's. The men's 4x400 relay finished fifth out of 30 teams with a time of 3:19, fastest among NAIA teams competing this weekend. The team of Austin Krier, Perkins Aiyegbeni, Levi TeBrink and Lemon posted the ninth fastest time in the NAIA overall.

The men's distance medley placed fifth and met the auto mark with a school record time of 10:16. Team members include Goetsch, Krier, Hollinger and Rose.

The women's distance medley finished second and met the auto mark with a time of 12:11. Team members include Breanna Harthoorn, Rebekah Muilenburg, Landhuis and Bosch.
