Track and Field Athletes Take Home Academic Honors

15 Northwestern College track and field athletes earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors as announced by the national office earlier today.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Seven women's athletes; Sonya Hagberg, Emily Nienhuis, Hannah Shie, Lydia Steenhoek, Abby Stevens, Jana Vermeer and Sarah Wedel, along with eight men's athletes; Luke Galloway, B.J. Groskreutz, Austin Krier, Zach Landhuis, Will Norris, T.J. Spykstra, Jordan Strand and Caleb VanderBaan, earne the postseason academic honor.
