Red Raiders Play In Kansas This Weekend

Game Time...Northwestern College continues its season this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders against teams from the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). The Red Raiders will play Tabor on Friday afternoon at 3/5pm and will then play McPherson on Saturday at 1/3pm.

All-Time...The Red Raiders are 0-1 all-time against Tabor, losing 3-1 in the 2015 season. Northwestern holds a 1-1 record against McPherson, splitting a doubleheader last year 6-1 in game one and losing game two, 8-2. 

Scouting Reports...

 Tabor College: 1-4  Head Coach: Suzanne Unruh (7th year) 

The Blue Jays are 1-4 this season with all games played at the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, Texas last weekend. They were shutout in three games (Morningside, Oklahoma City and Columbia) and also lost to Houston-Victoria 4-3 in nine innings. Tabor earned its lone win, a 10-0 victory, against Bacone (Okla.). 

Coach Unruh returns for her seventh season with the Jays and returns five starters and 11 players from a 2016 team that tied for ninth in the KCAC with a 6-16 record, 14-34 overall. They just missed out on postseason play and were picked to finish eight in the conference preseason poll.

The Bulldogs are also off to a 1-4 start to the season with all games played at the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth. The lost to William Penn, Texas Wesleyan, Doane and Morningside last weekend but defeated Bacone 10-9. 

Spencer returns five starters, including her top two pitchers, and nine players from a 2016 team that finished last in the KCAC with a 4-18 record, 9-39 overall. Spencer, formerly an assistant at Tabor, has four of her top hitters back from last year's team. They were picked 12th in the KCAC preseason poll.
