Four Northwestern College softball players claimed all-conference honors as announced by the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) earlier today.
Two Red Raiders, Madison Beaver and Jessica Rayela, were named to the 17-player second team. Beaver, a sophomore outfielder from Sioux Center, Iowa, posted a team-best .351 batting average and scored 33 runs this season. She totaled 10 doubles and also ranked fourth in the GPAC with 13 stolen bases. Rayela hit .329 at the plate and drove in a team-high 32 RBIs. The senior also shared team-high honors with five home runs and closed her Red Raider career eight in doubles (35), tied for fourth in home runs (20) and tied for 12th in RBIs (87). Rayela is a two-time all-conference selection, earning honorable mention honors last year.
Katie Elliott and Kayla Tindall received honorable mention honors. Elliott hit .304 and ranked ninth in the GPAC with 11 doubles. The junior scored 22 runs, hit four home runs and totaled 19 RBIs. Elliott also posted a .964 fielding percentage at first base. Tindall posted a 14-11 record in the circle, ranking third in the GPAC in wins and fourth in innings pitched (163). She had an ERA of 3.95 and ranked seventh in the conference with 114 strikeouts, the seventh NWC player to record more than 100 strikeouts in a season. Tindall was also an all-conference selection in 2015.
Northwestern closed the season with a 23-24 overall record, finishing fifth in the conference at 10-10.
