Northwestern defeated Mount Marty last night in GPAC men’s basketball, 79-57. The Raiders won their fifth straight game and improve to 7-2 in the GPAC, 12-7 overall. The Lancers drop to 1-8 in the league, 4-17 overall.

The Raiders opened the game with the first nine points and extended the lead to 18-3 just five minutes in. They never trailed and cruised to a 52-27 halftime lead.

Every NWC player saw time in the second half as Coach Korver cleared his bench. 11 different players scored for NWC as they won their fifth straight game.

Northwestern shot 46% for the game and limited the Lancers to just 34%.  Brent Dunkelberger, a 6-8 sophomore, scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed six boards to lead NWC. Kale Wiertzema was the only other Raider player in double figures with 11. The Raiders controlled the glass, 43-36, led by Dunkelberger and Josh Van Es with six. Michael Jiskoot put up impressive numbers as well with eight points, five rebounds and a career-high five assists in just 15 minutes of time.

The Raiders go for their sixth straight win on Saturday as they play Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Neb.
