Ten Red Raiders Earn GPAC Honors

Senior Zach Cortese and sophomores Raphael DeHoyos and Grant Lang earned Second Team All-GPAC honors for their efforts this season. Lang and Sr. Colin Sandbulte each earned GPAC Gold Gloves for their defensive work. Northwestern finished fourth in the GPAC this season, their sixth consecutive fourth place finish or better. Seven other Red Raiders also earned honorable mention honors.

Cortese led Northwestern with a 0.380 average and finished with 40 runs scored and 34 RBI.

DeHoyos went 6-4 with a 5.03 ERA in 59 innings with 57 strikeouts.

Lang led Northwestern in doubles and home runs with 14 and six respectively. He also had a team high 41 RBI and 25 walks. Defensively as a catcher, Lang threw out 15 runners and allowed 15 stolen bases for the season.

Sandbulte also earned honorable mention honors after hitting 0.282 during his senior season, scoring 32 runs. Sandbulte fielded 0.906 on his way to winning the GPAC Gold Glove at 3B.

Christian Hamett also earned honorable mention honors after leading the team with 46 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. He hit 0.372 on the season.

Reed Smith earned honorable mention honors, hitting 0.315 with 31 runs scored and 26 RBI.

Michael Callahan earned honorable mention honors, hitting 0.310 with 23 runs scored, 25 RBI, and five home runs.

Fernando Gutierrez earned honorable mention honors for the second season, posting a 4.09 ERA in 66 innings with a 4-4 record.

Colin Pennings earned honorable mention honors after a 5-4 season in 56.2 innings with a 5.40 ERA.

Austin Zylstra also earned honorable mention honors posting a 6.52 ERA in 17 apperances out of the bullpen.
